Police say a row in a Monticello apartment resulted in a break-in, then an attack and gunfire.

State police say the home invasion took place in an apartment complex on Harmony Lane on Friday when two men broke into one of the units.

Police say Andre Fogo and Rachain Wilson, both from Monticello, forced their way into the house to confront a resident about an earlier altercation.

Police say both men beat the resident when a second inmate in the apartment opened fire with his legal gun and beat Wilson.

State Police say the men ran off and drove to the Catskill location of the Garnet Health Medical Center in Harris.

Police caught up with the couple and said Wilson had been treated and released with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

Both men have been charged with criminal burglary and are being held on bail in Sullivan County Jail.

According to police, documents were provided showing that the gun was in lawful possession and no charges were brought against the gun owner.
